Cathal McLoughlin, PhD

Research Fellow

Cathal McLoughlin, PhD, is Research Fellow at Morphoceuticals. He is responsible for the development of the high performance tissue simulator used in in silico experiments involving artificial intelligence. His academic research involved computational simulations of biologically realistic neuronal networks in Parkinson's disease. Specifically, his work examined how network structure affects the global activity of neural tissue, and explored long term models of calcium based neuroplasticity in the basal ganglia. Cathal has presented at several conferences including IEEE, EMBC, and Society for Neuroscience. He holds a PhD, an MBE and a BS, all in the field of biomedical engineering with the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in University College Dublin, Ireland.
